Rico Rally – Austria and the Dolomites

Our 6-night itinerary showcases some of Europe’s finest driving roads, combining iconic mountain passes, spectacular scenery and excellent overnight stops, including a two-night stay in Innsbruck.

From the Austrian Alps and Italian Dolomites to the legendary roads of Switzerland, each day brings new highlights and unforgettable driving.

Day 1: The Journey Begins Rico Rally cars parked up at old Reims-Gueux circuit pit straight

Our adventure begins with a Eurotunnel crossing to France before heading southeast towards the historic Reims-Gueux race circuit for a short stop.

From here we’ll enjoy a scenic drive through the forests of Alsace before arriving in Colmar.

This evening we’ll gather for a group dinner and the chance to get to know one another before an exciting week on the road together.

Day 2: First Taste of the Alps

Rico Rally on the Hochtannberg pass in AustriaLeaving Alsace behind, we’ll cross into Germany and enjoy a superb drive through the Black Forest.

View of Innsbruck old town squareAfter a lunch stop beside Lake Constance, the roads begin to climb as we enter the Austrian Alps.

The spectacular Hochtannberg Pass and Hahntennjoch provide a fitting introduction to the mountain roads that lie ahead before we arrive in Innsbruck for a two-night stay.

Our hotel is located in the heart of the city, within easy walking distance of the historic old town and its many restaurants.

Day 3: The Dolomites Spectacular

Passo Giau in the Italian DolomitesToday is one of the highlights of the trip as we head south into the magnificent Italian Dolomites.

Passo Pordoi in the Italian DolomitesWe’ll drive sections of the famous Great Dolomites Road together with some of the region’s most celebrated mountain passes, including Pordoi, Giau, Falzarego and Valparola.

Expect breathtaking scenery, dramatic peaks and a truly memorable day behind the wheel before returning to Innsbruck for a second evening.

Day 4: Across the High Alps

Another outstanding driving day lies ahead as we tackle the legendary Timmelsjoch High Alpine Road.

An epic curve on the fabulous Fluela pass with Rico RallyThe route then threads between Italy and Switzerland, taking in the unique lakeside setting of Livigno before crossing the spectacular Bernina and Flüela Passes on our way to Davos.

Surrounded by towering peaks and renowned for its Alpine setting, Davos provides a fitting end to a remarkable day on the road.

Day 5: The Great Swiss Passes

We’ll then continue north towards the rolling hills of eastern Switzerland and our overnight stop in St Gallen.

Day 6: One Final Adventure

Inside view of the Mercedes museum at StuttgartThose wishing to enjoy one last scenic drive can head back through sections of the Black Forest, while automotive enthusiasts may prefer a visit to either the Mercedes-Benz Museum or Porsche Museum in Stuttgart.

Either way, we’ll regroup in Belgium for a superb final-night dinner and one last opportunity to share stories from an incredible week on the road.

Day 7: The Road Home

After breakfast we begin the journey home, travelling through the picturesque Ardennes region before making our way back to Calais and the Eurotunnel for the crossing to the UK.
